BritBangla’s continual aim is to raise the BritBengali profile, highlight up and coming and inspirational BritBengalis. The achievement profiles of well-known successful British Bengalis are on the website. The membership composes of dynamic professionals and entrepreneurs that attracts the mainstream and Bengali media.

Sam Zaman of the globally
successful ‘State of Bengal’ is currently on his world tour that
include Brazil, Canada, Columbia, Madrid, New York, Delhi and China - his gigs
have been a sell-out. The UK tour was in July. A new album is to be released
soon.
State of Bengal (aka Sam Zaman) is one of the key DJ/Producers from the British
Asian music scene that emerged in the mid 90’s and gave birth to the influential
‘Asian Underground’ movement. His reputation as one of the most
innovative and pioneering artists is still held today as he continues to push
the boundaries with a range of eclectic projects and albums, the latest of which
is a new dance music concept called SKIP-IJ. Sam has also worked with a diverse
range of artists from across the globe including Björk, Massive Attack,
Ananda Shankar, Talvin Singh and Nitin Sawhney to name just a few.
Romie
Ali’s
album ‘O Amaar Priyatama’ has been released and his videos are being
played on Bengali TV channels. His new unreleased album called 'Radha' includes
a track featuring BritBangla member rap singer Wisemanmoe.
Dishad Hussain, an award winning
Director, has started a new comedy show 'MIXT NUTX' that has been playing regularly
in Central London. Mixt Nutz will be doing a whole month at the Edinburgh Fringe
Festival so head up to see them - they are funny! www.mixtnutz.com
Kayser Foyz,
film director from East London, is planning to do a re-run of his play
‘The Wedding Run’ and a detective drama - so watch out for it!
Farook Shamser – JOI, is
currently finalising his new album which is due to be released this year!
Sanchita Islam is writing her
novel ‘Gunghi Blues’ that she has been working on for 10 years.
Penguin are interested in publishing her book.
Dr Mohammed Ahmedullah, founder
of Bangladesh Heritage, recently presented the Dhaka City Exhibition, that celebrated
the city's history and present day dynamism, is currently working on a new project
due to exhibit in February 2007.
Aladin, the magician, has been
closely involved with the ‘Book of Cool’ (www.bookofcool.com
) that was nominated for three ‘Webby
Awards’ – the global ‘Oscars’ for the internet.
Pasha Razzo,
previously showcased his collection at the London Fashion Week, is planning
a fashion event in West London showcasing his new collection “Seduction”.
Swapan Ahmed's short
film 'Beautiful Mind' in Bollywood style has won 'Mini shot-2006' by 'Devant
de Monde' in Paris. A 'Hollywood vs Bollywood' film contest with the condition
to make the film in 72 hours.
Shahin Badar was
the opening act at the Hollywood hip hop artist 50 cent's concert in Lebanon
last month. Shahin performed two of her tracks that was written by her, with
Guy Manoukian one of Lebanon's award winning act. Shahin is releasing her new
album in early 2007.

The team for BritBangla doing the Women's 5K Hydro Challenge in Hyde Park are
Perveen Kashem, Taryn and Jenin Khanam - so have have raised £500 with
the aim of raising £800-1000. On behalf of the members BritBangla
would love to continue to support the 9 year old child until the age of 16 and
help her fulfil her dream of becoming a teacher. Our contributions help to fund
community projects that families are doing with Plan UK to benefit the children

BritBengali Law Society
Zacharias Miah, a BritBangla member, is establishing
a new law society. This society is looking for members to join and any people
who wish to participate or attend its events. BritBangla is supporting the establishment
of this new society that aims to promote Bengali lawyers and will assist in
training contracts/ pupilage and jobs. Members will include Solicitors, Barristers,
Trainee Solicitors, clerks, pupils, Masters graduates and any other professionals
