BritBangla's continual aim is to raise the Bengali profile, highlight up and coming talents and inspirational BritBengalis. Members hitting the headlines...
Runi Khan produced
Bonbibi, an innovative retelling of an ancient Bengali folktale that celebrated
40 years of Bangladesh at Asia House, and raised awareness of what the country
may face due to the effects of the climate change. Ruhul Abdin recently launched
his new project 'Paraa'
to support Bangladeshi community. Saif Osmani had a successful 'Gandhi
in Noakhali' exhibition and joined by Shaheen Choudhury Westcombe MBE who
talked about her father's archive.

Over the
last eight months, BritBangla Executive Team Member Samiul
Kamal-Uddin has been participating in an Urban design Mentoring
project with Brampton Manor School in Newham which resulted in the team
winning the 'Best team' award and Samiul winning the 'Most engaging Architect'
award amongst 200 entries run by Open City, a charity that champions well designed
places.

Curry Night at Bengal Lancer was attended by Deputy Mayor of Camden Abdul
Quadir. See the photos from the
event. We successfully raised £590 for our sponsored child via Plan International.
'Amina' lives in Jaganathpur, Bangladesh and will now be supported for another
3 years. Her birthday is coming up this month so she'll receive a a little gift
from us. Thanks to all those who gave donations and attended the fundraising

>> Following on from last year's International
Women's Day sponsored by Bangladesh British Chamber of Commerce, on 8th March
we had our second event in association with Diaspora
Volunteer Association celebrating the 100th Anniversary. Thanks to all those
BritBangla members who helped out.
Over 120 people attended the evening that was hosted by Aysha Iqbal, BBC journalist

>> Taryn Khanam, BritBangla is now a committee member of the John Adams Society following her participation on the prestigious exchange programme, International Visitors Leadership Programme. She was invited to a tea reception hosted by the US Ambassador's wife Mrs Majorie Sussman at their residence, Winfield House. You can see a video clip of the event.
